What is “ATP”?

For non-microbiologists in the crowd: ATP testing is a technology used to quickly analyze the amount of bio-load on a surface. This type of testing is regularly used in food processing and healthcare facilities to assess the cleanliness of the environment.
While ATP won’t tell you what kind of microorganisms are present – this requires long and costly testing – it will tell you how many organic items are on that surface. Results are measured in “Relative Light Units” (RLUs), which tell us the concentration of bioload from a surface or swab. Here is how the manufacturer of our ATP meter breaks it down:
ASSESSMENT & MONITORING
Sani Effect Assessment & Monitoring is the evaluation of the environmental conditions in buildings which can harbor micro-organisms. By recognizing and identifying areas of contamination, the Sani Effect Specialist provides recommendations for treatment – Sani CLEAN, DISINFECT or PROTECT.

ASSESSMENT REPORT
Sani Effect Assessment Report documents the location, results and dates of the tested areas in the facility. The current microbial levels, type of treatment used and post treatment results will be documented and color-coded with the percentage of realized improvement. The BAR Report provides a visual “snap shot” of the BIOLOGICAL condition of the facility.
